Art is an experiment in self-revelation
Art is a necessary balance in my life. Creating art helps me equate emotion
to logic, complacency to action, and conclusion to consequence.
I love to work in collage and assemblage because I physically get my fingers and hands in the mix of it. My hands are my tools as I’m driven to create multiple textures and layers in my work. I am ever on the lookout for found objects that catch my eye and stimulate my imagination.
I am also a printmaker working for the most part in monotype. This is the printmaker’s version of “collage.” The process involves layering inks, papers, and fairly flat objects on specialty paper and running it through a printing press multiple times. This process presses the inks and objects into the paper thus creating a unique effect, which cannot be duplicated with any other method.
My themes for the last few years have been “years gone by;” “nostalgia;” and my interpretation of the future which, of course, is influenced by my past experiences. I also enjoy working with the collective effect we have on each other in the world we live in, our community, country, globe and universe.
