LOIS  ANDREOTTI

Picture
My work ranges from traditional functional pottery like mugs, plates, colanders, teapots, garlic bowls, etc. to my "display only" work.  This work is "low fired" and just for fun.  It includes Horsehair pieces, Pit Fired pieces, Raku, Saggar, etc.  These pieces are mostly inspired by our own American Indian Tribes.

LOIS   ANDREOTTI

_ I have been working in clay for many years.  I started out slowly – once a week – and gradually picked up speed.  Clay is really part of who I am now.  My studio is in a shed in my backyard and my kilns are in the garage.

I enjoy doing functional pieces that I can imagine people using daily.  I like to think of someone pouring tea out of a teapot I made into a cup I made while looking at flowers in one of my vases.

I discovered alternative firing many years ago and now think I love it even more than my functional work.  These pieces are just to look at.  The work is low fired and very different from my functional work.  The techniques include HORSEHAIR, RAKU, PIT FIRED, and SAGGAR.  I include a description of the techniques inside my alternative pieces just in case you are interested in knowing a little more.
